A compilation of some Scriptures concerning the time of the end…

603 BC – Daniel prophesies to King Nebuchadnezzar regarding his kingdom, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome, and the Kingdom of the Messiah…

Daniel 2: 37-44 Thou, O king, art king of kings, unto whom the God of heaven hath given the kingdom, the power, and the strength, and the glory;and wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the birds of the heavens hath he given into thy hand, and hath made thee to rule over them all: thou art the head of gold. And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee; and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.

And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron, forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things; and as iron that crusheth all these, shall it break in pieces and crush. And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, it shall be a divided kingdom; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. And whereas thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men; but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron doth not mingle with clay.

And in the days of those kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed, nor shall the sovereignty thereof be left to another people; but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

Matthew 16:27-28 (NKJV) For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works. Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.

Matthew 10:23 (NKJV) “When they persecute you in this city, flee to another. For assuredly, I say to you, you will not have gone through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

Matthew 24:29-34 (NKJV) “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 “Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 “And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. 32 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 “So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near; at the doors! 34 “Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.

  1. Thanks for delineating the events surrounding the eschaton. It can be challenging to describe the preterist/postmillennial scheme to the uninitiated. I’ve been looking for a well done timeline chart to hand out for some time now and you saved me the work of having to try and draw one up myself.

  2. Helpful timeline. The only thing I would say is that I believe on the 70th week you use a “free hermenuetic” as do the Dispensationalist. They insert an elongated gap b/ 69 and 70. You simply elongate the 70th week itself.

I suggest that Messiah is cut off in the middle of the 70th week and about 3 years later the utter rejection of Messiah is sealed at the stoning of Stephen. With his stoning the 70th week is completed. Then our Sovereign Lord allows the inevitable decline and desolation of Messiah’s rejection to run its course.
